Muse Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc St. Matthias Vineyard 2013
This is a single vineyard wine displaying the ripeness of a warm year without losing the complexity, perfume and classical structure of its cool climate origins. Its elegance lies in a palate weight which doesn’t overwhelm and allows for the gradual revelation of texture, fine tannins and natural bright acid. It has flavours of black currants, red berries, dried Provençal herbs, violets and perfumed oak. Medium bodied and smooth, the skin and oak tannins are fine, plentiful and balanced by the natural acidity. Together they will provide longevity. This is a wine that will benefit from decanting over the course of its long life.
Cabernet Sauvignon 68% Cabernet franc 31% Shiraz 1%.
This beats any young Tasmanian cabernet or cab blend I’ve tasted for some time.
