Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet franc 2017

Muse

Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet franc 2017

A silky, elegant Cabernet blend—unapologetically medium-bodied, with layers of savoury spice over a solid core of intense fruit. Tannins are fine and the oak is seamlessly integrated, offering subtle hints of cedar and pepper alongside dark fruit and beetroot-driven earthiness. A classic cool-climate Cab in a timeless, food-friendly style that highlights the variety’s natural versatility at the table.

Winemaker Notes

Despite many differing opinions, I believe Tasmania has the capacity to make some excellent Bordeaux-style blends. This relies on a combination of good site selection, viticultural practices and attention in the winery. This wine is a fine example of such a cool climate wine. Savoury and spicy notes are found over fruit. Rich and complex it will benefit from decanting over the course of its long life. Given the cool nature of the 2017 vintage, this release in particular shows an elegant medium bodied wine.
