Syrah 2019
Vibrant and bold to look at (ruby plum, shades of purple), the nose follows suit, with juicy, plummy richness overlaid with white pepper, bramble and christmas-pudding spice. The palate is drier and more structured than the nose might suggest, with bright red fruit (cranberry, pomegranate) intertwined with darker notes of cacao, liquorice and blackberry. The gently drying finish lingers delightfully.

Winemaker Notes
My continuing aim for our Syrah is to highlight the finesse and richness that is possible with cool climate Shiraz. By working with the variations that we have within the vineyard to highlight the dark fruit, floral and black pepper of the bottom block of St Matthias. The resulting huge reservoir of spice, fruit and floral elements that’s balanced and nuanced. It will continue to develop with maturation in bottle. Due to its nature, we have continued to call it by its traditional French name, Syrah.
